8th Kyu - Yellow Belt

To earn a yellow belt the student must perform the following 10 elements. At least 6 must be passed to gain the yellow belt. At this early stage it is more important to show the correct spirit and effort rather than perfect technique.

From basic Yoi

1. Chudan choku tsuki (left and right)
Basic punch to solar plexus
2.

Jodan maeken tsuki - hold (left and right)
Leading hand punch to chin

3. Jodan uraken (left and right)
back fist to side of head
4. Basic Block (grading officer to choose)
5. Basic Block (grading officer to choose)

Basic Kamae

6. Zenkutsu dachi, jodan oi tsuki - hold (left and right)
leading hand punch to face
7. Zenkutsu dachi, chudan gyaku tsuki - hold (left and right)
reverse punch to solar plexus
8. Zenkutsu dachi, chudan maegeri (left and right)
Front snap kick to stomach
9. Hiza yoko geri kekomi
side kick to knee
10.

Kata

Adults - Tiakyo ku shodan - 'H' kata
Cadets - Shio tsuki - 'X' kata
